Growing up on his family dairy farm in Chilton, Wisconsin, John’s values for family, service and community were instilled in him at a young age. Following the unexpected death of his father, while he was in high school, John began to take an interest in the lasting impression funeral service can have. After finishing his undergraduate work, he and taught Sales and Marketing at Stevens Point Area High School for five years. In 1982, John and Barbara’s oldest son, Andrew, died of childhood cancer. Following that death, John resigned from teaching and entered mortuary school. While working at two large funeral homes in Milwaukee and Indianapolis, he obtained extensive experience conducting funerals and helping families cope with a devastating loss. In 1991, John, Barb, and their family moved back to Wisconsin to purchase the funeral homes in Sheboygan Falls and Oostburg.
John is active in many local community, statewide and national organizations. He was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Funeral Directors Assoc. In 2005 he was elected President by his peers of the International Order of the Golden Rule—an invitation-only association for progressive and high-standard funeral homes. John serves as vice-chairman of the Board of Directors for the St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. John and his wife, Barbara, have four adult children; Kyle (Jayne) Wenig, Angela (Scott) Ring, Evan, and Damon (Johannah) Wenig; and six grandchildren. John and Barb live in Sheboygan Falls and are active members of their church in Oostburg. John’s personal experience of the death of his father and son equips him to more fully understand the needs of those who grieve.
Daughter of John and Barbara Wenig, Angela was raised in funeral service—a space she felt proud to be a part of. She was involved in various capacities including funeral preplanning before completing her teaching degree. After twelve years of serving in local schools as a special educator, Angela’s recent pivot to rejoin the Wenig team deepens her lifelong involvement in funeral service.
Angela’s servant leader approach and engaging presence paired with a passion to educate and usher families through an inevitable time of need complement her new role as a funeral preplanning specialist. She is honored to come alongside families curating meaningful funeral plans as a way to care for their loved ones in their future loss.
Angela still resides in the Oostburg area (Hingham) with her husband, Scott, and three young children, where faith, family, and community remain strong values. Some of their favorite pastimes include high school football Friday night lights, water and winter sports at the family cottage, and singing together in area churches.

Shortly after the unexpected death of her father, Leslie decided to pursue her longtime dream of being a funeral director. She understands the importance of serving every family with compassion and empathy in their time of need.
