William Wessing

August 13, 1941 — February 23, 2016

William J. Wessing, 74, of Random Lake, passed away on Tuesday evening, February 23, 2016, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Bill was born on August 13, 1941 in Lomira, the son of Henry and Audrey (Schill) Wessing. Bill grew up on the family farm and graduated from Lomira High School in 1959 and from MSOE in 1964. On July 17, 1965 he married Penelope Graff at St. Leo Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Bill owned Wessing Industries for 20 years until his retirement earlier this year. Bill was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Random Lake and formerly St Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. He served as Eucharistic Minister, lecturer, parish council member, and usher. Bill was one of the founders of the MSOE Alumni Assoc., and a member of the Random Lake Lions Club, Sheboygan Noon Lions Club, Random Lake and Sheboygan County Chambers of Commerce, Random Lake Assoc., and served on various Village Board committees. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, bowling, farming, watching sports, and reading about current events and politics. Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny; two daughters, Michelle (Lance) Rodenkirch of Madison and Melissa (Greg) Straub of Random Lake; three sons, Todd Wessing of Monterey, CA, Tim (Shannon) Wessing of Brookfield, and Troy (Melissa) Wessing of Burlington; eleven grandchildren, Natalie and Charlotte Rodenkirch, Madilyn, Olivia, and Jillian Straub, Molly, Katherine and Teddy Wessing, Karson, Eve, and Stella Wessing; his mother, Audrey Wessing of Lomira; three sisters, Sherry (Jim) Zickert of Eldorado, Diane (Jim "Rodney") Larson of Waupaca, and Mary Beth Dixon of Manitowoc; three brothers, Jim (Sue) Wessing of Kewaskum, John (Joan) Wessing of Lomira and Steve (Cheryl) Wessing of Byron; three sisters-in-law, Candy (Jim) Gilmore of Green Bay, Cindy (Paul) Honkamp of Brookfield and Jullane Graff of Cedarburg; three brothers-in-law, Chuck Towne of Greendale, Donald (Lynn) Graff of Pewaukee and John (Lynn) Graff of Waukesha, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Judy Towne; and two brothers-in-law, John Dixon and Tony Graff. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 6 pm on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Random Lake with Rev. Dick Cerpich officiating. Burial will take place at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Dacada. Family and friends may gather at the church on Friday from 3pm until the time of the Mass at 6pm. A memorial fund has been established in Bill's name for the American Lung Assoc. and American Diabetes Assoc. The Wessing family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Lipchick, and the staffs of Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the dedicated and professional care given to Bill and their family.
