William Prigge

William Carl Prigge, 91, of 405 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks, CA, formerly of Howards Grove, died Sunday, October 18, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born February 17, 1924, at home just outside of Howards Grove, the son of the late William A. and Elsie (Henning) Prigge. William was a 1942 graduate of Howards Grove High School. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He received his undergraduate degree from Mission House College (now Lakeland College) in 1948, his Master's degree from University of Wisconsin in 1950 and Doctorate in Education from Indiana University in 1965. He was a life-long educator, teaching at Chadron Teachers College, University of Wisconsin, Arizona State University, Indiana University, Illinois State University, James Madison University, and Chicago State University. He married Jean Tousey in August 1948. She preceded him in death on December 7, 1968. He married Dorothy Schramm Gutzler in September of 1970. . Dorothy passed away on January 17, 2014. William enjoyed golf, bridge, gardening and travel. He was a handyman extraordinaire, accomplishing many remodeling and construction projects. Always ready with a smile and warm greeting, he made the best of every day. He is survived by; two sons, William Frank (Julie) Prigge of Moorpark, CA and Robert E. (Masami) Prigge of Cupertino, CA; his grandchildren Ashton, Caroline, Alyssa and Billy Prigge; favorite cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, first and second wife, two brothers, Gerhard and Henry, and his sister Gertrude. Funeral services for William will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls. Burial will follow at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call upon the family at the funeral home Sunday, October 25, from noon until the time of service at 2:00pm.
