Willard Herman, 87, passed away on Wednesday November 20, 2024, at his home with his wife by his side. He was born on August 22, 1937, to Harold and Arvilla (Barteck) Herman in Sheboygan WI. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Marianne Koechel on August 31, 1963, at Camp Lucerne.
Willard was employed by the Kohler Company for 47 years. For a number of those years, he worked in security and was frequently asked to chauffeur a member of the Kohler family. Many Kohler associates, truck drivers and contractors got to know Willard’s warm and caring personality when checking in through his gate. He was also an active member of the National Guard and trained at Camp Haven. Willard enjoyed many hobbies and activities. He bowled with his brother Milton for many years and frequently attended Bible studies. He also delivered Meals on Wheels and loved chatting with the people he delivered to. Train-watching trips with his two sons and babysitting his grandkids when they were young brought him great joy. He had a passion for gardening and often shared fresh vegetables with family and friends during the summer. Willard was very active in his church.
Willard is survived by his loving wife Marianne and their children: Philip (Sandi) Herman of Sheboygan WI, Christopher Herman (Benjamin Schultze) of Walla Walla, WA and Carrie Spiro of Plymouth WI, grandchildren; Hannah and Caden Spiro, Heather (Geoffrey) Schwartz of Oshkosh WI, Ella and Margaret Schwartz, step-grandchildren; Alyssa (Joe) Priebe and Trevor (Jaime) Rahe. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Herman, Sisters-in-law Norma Koechel and Donna Broehm. He will also be missed by his two canine companions Bailey and Presley.
Willard was preceded in death by his two infant children: Joyce Anne and Scott Christopher Herman, parents, parents-in-law, Arthur and Mille Koechel: brother Milton Herman and brothers-in-law Arley Koechel and Harold Petta, sisters-in-law; Adaline Koechel and Margaret Petta.
A private service will be held. Relatives and friends may call upon the family for a time of visitation from 10:00am until 11:30am on Friday November 29, at the Wenig Funeral home, 711 Broadway Street, Sheboygan Falls, WI.
Cor. 2:4-5- My speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and the power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
