Wesley H. Heinen, 91, of Oostburg, died on Friday night, May 3, 2013 at Columbia-St Mary's Ozaukee where he had been a patient since Thursday. Wes was born on February 3, 1922 in the Town of Holland, the son of Clarence and Alyce (Schreurs) Heinen. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1939 and attended Hope College and Iowa State University. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII from 1943-45. On April 4, 1945 he married Jeannette Hendrikse in the Town of Wilson. Wes worked at Bolens Mfg. for 29 years as a purchasing manager until 1982. From 1982-94 he was a self employed foundry sales representative. Wes was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg where he served as deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, Bible Class teacher, and was active in the Young At Heart group. Wes served on the Oostburg School Board and as the Town of Holland Treasurer. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, jig-saw and word puzzles, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. Wes is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeannette of Oostburg; one daughter, Faye Erdmann of Colorado; two sons, David (Cassandra) Heinen of Oostburg and Don (Connie) Heinen of Edgerton; four grandchildren Jennifer (Bill) Bohlen, Matthew Erdmann, Michael (Heather) Heinen and Joel (fiancé Stephanie Lasko) Heinen; two great grandchildren, Logan Erdmann and Graycee Bohlen; two sisters, Phyllis Ledeboer of Oostburg and Joan Heinen of Cedar Grove; one brother, Ralph Heinen of Cedar Grove; three brothers-in-law, Donald (Shirley) Hilbelink of Oostburg, John VanWyk of Gibbsville, and Harold (Audrey) Hendrikse of Oostburg. Wes was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marlys Hilbelink and Lavonne VanWyk; a sister-in-law Marian Heinen, and a brother-in-law, Edward Ledeboer. A funeral to celebrate Wes's life will take place at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg at 1pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 4-7 pm, and on Wednesday from Noon until the time of the service.
