Wayne Havey

Wayne J. Havey, 88, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016, at Sheboygan Progressive Health Care Center. Wayne was born on June 1, 1928, in Stoughton, WI, son of Willie and Ina (Wersland) Havey. He was a 1946 graduate of Stoughton High School, received his Bachelor's degree from Luther College in 1950, and two Master's degrees from UW-Oshkosh and also from UW-Milwaukee. On August 26, 1950, he married Evelyn Dirienzo in Madison. Wayne was a science teacher and administrator for Sheboygan Falls Public Schools for 34 years until his retirement in 1991. Previously he taught school in Deadwood, SD and Silver Lake, MN for seven years. Wayne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where he was Sunday school superintendent and on the church council. He was involved in Boy Scouts and a member of the Kettle Squares Dancers. Wayne enjoyed winters in Florida, nature, bird watching, gardening, camping, traveling, classic country western music, and square dancing. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, UW Badgers, and the Milwaukee Brewers. His patriotism was evident as he was proud to be an American. Wayne is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn; his two daughters, Kelly (John) Mess of Bellevue, WA and Heidi Timm of West Bend; his son, Kim (Mike Bisping) Havey of Golden Valley, MN; four grandchildren, Chelsey Timm, Danielle Timm, Katie Mess, and Andrew Mess; one great-grandson, Dustin Mess; one sister, Elayne Nicholls of Waukesha; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie (Alvin) Johnson of DeForest. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services to celebrate Wayne's life will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:30 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Wayne's name for the American Diabetes Association and Salvation Army.
