Warren Theune, 88, of Oostburg, went home to his Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.Warren was born on September 22, 1930, in the Town of Holland, to William and Minnie (TeLindert) Theune. He attended Lakeview School through 8th grade and continued working on his family farm. Warren served his country in the Philippines and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, in the U.S. Airforce from 1951 until 1955. During his service, he also completed his GED. On December 26, 1953, Warren married Betty Lou Walvoord in Oostburg. Betty preceded Warren in death on January 8, 2009. Warren was a partner with Daane Siding & Roofing Company, then began Warren's Specialty Company, and later retired from Alumaroll Specialty in 1993. On October 2, 2009, Warren married Mary TenHaken (Lensink). Warren was a longtime member of First Reformed Church of Oostburg where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and Bible and Sunday school teacher. He found profound significance in his personal relationship with Christ, demonstrating an authentic and deeply-rooted faith both publicly and privately. He was an active member on the Oostburg School Board, Oostburg American Legion, and Wisconsin Purple Martin Association. In his later years, Warren, attracted, studied, and nurtured many families of purple martins. Always anxiously awaiting their arrival in the Spring. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fishing on Lake Michigan with family. His service to our country was a great source of pride, highlighted on May 16, 2015, when he took the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Warren is survived by his wife, Mary Theune of Oostburg; two daughters, Debra (Richard) Klompenhouwer of Manitou Springs, Colorado, and Sandra (Linda Besser) Theune of Madison; four sons, Gary of Plymouth; William (Susan) of Oostburg, Conrad (Sandy) and James (Vicki) Theune, both of Gibbsville; twelve grandchildren, Dylan Klompenhouwer and Tess (Michael) Scruggs, Kayla Schneider, Jaclyn, Patience, and Will Theune, Stephanie (Luke) Heckel, Adam, and Samantha Theune, Matthew, Elizabeth, and Jacob Theune; a sister, Margaret (Harry) Neustel; and sister-in-law, Delores Theune; brother-in-law, David (Janet) Walvoord; step-sons; Doug (Debbie) TenHaken, Brian (Sandy) TenHaken, five step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Betty Lou Theune; brothers, Isaac (Dorothy) Theune, Raymond (Evelyn) Theune, Lester Theune, Marvin Theune, and infant Donald Theune; and sisters, Janet (Willard) Daane, and Ruth (Raymond) Otte. A funeral service with military honors to celebrate Warren's life will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the First Reformed Church of Oostburg with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Oostburg Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 3 p.m. until 7.p.m. and again on Friday at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. A memorial fund is being established in his name for Stars and Stripes Honor Flight and the First Reformed Church of Oostburg.
