Warren Rauwerdink

Warren J. Rauwerdink, 82, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Warren was born on August 10, 1932, in the Town of Lima, son of Lester and Hazel (Heideman) Rauwerdink. He was a 1950 graduate of Waldo High School and received his Master's degree from UW-Oshkosh. Warren served in the US Army from 1953-1954. On August 25, 1956, he married Kathryn Ann Kappers in Hingham. Warren began his career as a teacher in a one-room school house at the Gibbsville School and Beaver Creek School. He was then employed as an elementary and middle school science teacher for 33 years in Oshkosh until his retirement in 1989. After his retirement he was a funeral assistant with Wenig Funeral Homes for eleven years. Warren was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher. He was an active volunteer and spent his time visiting shut-in's. Warren enjoyed woodworking, traveling, cruises, and spending time with family and friends. Warren is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn; his three sons, Darrell (Mary) Rauwerdink of West Chesterfield, NH, Steve (Nora) Rauwerdink of Colgate, and Randy (Rochelle) Rauwerdink of Savage, MN; six grandchildren, Adam (Cocav) Rauwerdink, Kristen (friend Brandon Root) Rauwerdink, Brandon (Jenny) Pace, Kyle Pace, Brian Rauwerdink, and Kevin Rauwerdink; four great-grandchildren, Iona and Signe Rauwerdink and Hunter and Sawyer Pace; one sister, Marion Johnston of Pine Haven; two brothers, Roger (Marilyn) Rauwerdink of Hingham and David (Karen) Rauwerdink of Fort Collins, CO; three sisters-in-law, Mary Kappers of Sheboygan Falls, Mary DeTroye of Oostburg, Audrey (David) Dolfin of Hingham; and two brothers-in-law, Larry (Jean) Kappers of Oostburg and William Van Wyk of Sheboygan Falls. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Edith Van Wyk, one brother, Leon (Muriel) Rauwerdink, two brothers-in-law, Harold "Kap" Kappers and Lauren De Troye, and his parents-in-law, Ben and Florence Kappers. Funeral services to celebrate Warren's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Brad Veenendaal officiating. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, July 24, 2015, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the church and also on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Warren's name for Voice of the Martyrs and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
