Violet M. Ter Maat, 88, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Saturday morning, December 28, 2013 at Pine Haven Residential Home. Violet was born April 24, 1925 in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, daughter of the late Gustave and Ida (Mueller) Widder. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1942. On November 13, 1948, she married J. George Ter Maat. The couple lived in Kohler for 25 years, running an excavating and blacktop business. They moved to the Town of Sheboygan Falls in 1973. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1976. Violet was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and sewing. Violet enjoyed nature and the outdoors and was especially proud of the work she did to maintain her rural homestead for almost 40 years. She is survived by one son, James G (Deborah) of Silver Spring, MD and one daughter, Beverly A (Brian) Lewis of Green Bay; two sisters, Irma (Wesley) Prange of Sheboygan Falls, and Mary (William) Pohland of Germantown; one brother, Leonard (Geraldine) Widder of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Widder of Sheboygan and Margaret Widder of Sheboygan Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; three sisters, Norma (Delbert) Klemme, Adeline (Donald) Lorenz, Elda (Melvin) Kalk; three brothers, Roland (Clara), Willard and Frederick Widder. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Thursday, January 2, 2014, from 4-7pm, and on Friday, at church from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A funeral services to celebrate Violet's life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler, with the Rev. Wayne King officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
