Vernon H. Gill, 77, of Sheboygan Falls passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Vernon was born on September 12, 1938 in Sheboygan to Glenn and Margaret (Taubenheim) Gill. He was a 1957 graduate of Central High School and attended Trinity Bible College. On October 24, 1959 he married Phyllis Hopeman. Vernon was a Graphic Art Designer for Faith Printing in Taylors, SC until his retirement in 2012. Vernon was attending First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg. Prior to moving back to Wisconsin, he was a member of Community Bible Church in Holly Springs, SC, where he was in the church choir and sang solos. In his younger years he was a counselor for Awana Boys. Vernon had a love for Christian music, especially southern gospel. He enjoyed watching football and old movies and feeding the birds and squirrels. Vernon is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; four daughters, Sharon (Dearl) Gilstrap of Piedmont, SC, Lynn (Ron) Walvoort of Oostburg, Brenda (fiancé Ken Staloch)Hanson of Coons Rapid, MN and Christine (Jason) Jackett of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Olivia Gilstrap, Garrett Walvoort, Adrianna (Luke) Ganz, Richard Walvoort, Timothy Walvoort, Nicholas Barker and Joshua Johnson; one sister, Karen Jeske of Sheboygan; three brothers, Gary (Kay) Gill of North Fond du Lac, Richard (Jackie) Gill of Tiverton, RI, and Glenn Gill of Fountain Inn, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Doris Wutt of Sheboygan, Howard (Sue) Hopeman of Middleton, Barbara (Gary) Lensink of Clarksville, TN, Judy (John) Stewart of Marietta, GA, Barbara Gill of Newport, OR and Jan Gill of GA. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Cynthia Hopeman; an infant son; one sister, Shirley Schlegel; two brothers, David and Mike Gill and two brothers-in-law, Erv Jeske and Marvin Wutt. A funeral service to celebrate Vernon's life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11am at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg (216 S. 7th St.) with Rev. Drew Zylstra officiating. Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the town of Wilson. Relatives and friends may gather on Friday, January 15, 2016 at First Christian Reformed Church from 4-8pm and again on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 10am until the time of service at 11am.
