Verne Rademaker

Verne W. Rademaker, 77, of Oostburg, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Verne was born on August 5, 1934, in Baldwin WI, son of William and Ella (DeMotts) Rademaker. On April 9, 1954, he married Rachel Otte in Oostburg, WI. Verne was employed as a carpenter with Eggebeen Builders for 27 years and then went into partnership with his son-in-law Bill Westerbeke and nephew Dave Ver Velde to form Shoreland Builders for 22 years, retiring in 2005. Verne was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg, where he served as an elder, deacon, and library assistant. Verne loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, camping, golfing, bowling, fishing, gardening, birds, traveling, and reading. Verne always taught his children and grandchildren to love and enjoy God's creation. Verne is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rachel; three daughters, Deb (Steve) Vander Ploeg of Oostburg, Vicki (Bill) Westerbeke of Oostburg, and Jill (Jim) Wiltjer of Lansing, IL; eight grandchildren, Erin (Dave) Winkel, Stacy (Zac) Casper, Kelly (Daniel) McCaleb, Angie (Ross) DeBlaey, Andrea (Ben) Van Denend, Joe Westerbeke, Seth Wiltjer, Deanna Wiltjer; five great-grandchildren, Tanner Winkel, Addison and Chase DeBlaey, Madelyn and Miles Van Denend. Verne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Verne was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Eric Westerbeke; two sisters, Inez VerVelde and Kathryn VerVelde; two brothers, Raymond Rademaker and Dale Rademaker. Funeral services to celebrate Verne's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg with Rev. Willie Gesch officiating. Private family interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson, prior to the service. Relatives and friends may greet Verne's family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 3-7 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Verne's name for Oostburg Christian School and First Christian Reformed Church Library. Verne's family would like to give special thanks to staff at Sharon S.
