Ulrich Schlichting

Ulrich O. Schlichting, 96, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Pine Haven Christian Home. Ulrich was born on November 19, 1919, in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, son of Herman Sr. and Bertha (Harder) Schlichting. He attended Starlight School in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. Ulrich was a dairy farmer in the Town of Sheboygan Falls for many years. Ulrich was a lifelong member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, confirmed in 1934. He served on church council, as a trustee, and on the building committee. Ulrich also served on the St. Lucas Cemetery Association and the Sheboygan Falls Senior Center. He helped with the Schlichting Dairy and Berry Farm. Ulrich enjoyed chopping wood, raising chickens, playing cards and bingo, and singing hymns. Ulrich is survived by three nieces, Audrey Parrish of Waldo, Mary Schlichting of Sheboygan, and Elizabeth (John) Trapp of Wauwatosa; six nephews, Allen (Joyce) Kuhlow of Hingham, Gary Schlichting of Plymouth, Ralph Schlichting of Sheboygan Falls, Larry Schlichting of Sheboygan Falls, David Schlichting of Plymouth, and Daniel (Deborah) Schlichting of Grafton; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Roland Buss and Florence Popp. Ulrich was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Anna (Henry) Kuhlow, Cora (Henry) Prange, and Dr. Johanna Schlichting; and seven brothers, Carl, William (Margaret), Henry (Doris), Herman (Cornelia), August, John, and Christian Schlichting. Funeral services to celebrate Ulrich's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 26, 2016, at St. Luke Lutheran Church with Rev. Elizabeth Jaeger officiating. Burial will take place at St. Lucas Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. Family and friends may gather at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. A memorial fund has been established in Ulrich's name for St. Luke Lutheran Church.
