Thomas R. Kroos, 76, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. Tom was born on October 29, 1937, in Sheboygan, son of Robert and Gladys (Kohlhagen) Kroos. He was a 1956 graduate of Sheboygan North High School. Tom served in the US Marine Corps from 1956-1958. On October 10, 1959, Tom married Janet Zabel at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler. He then received a degree as an A & E mechanic from Embry Riddle Aeronautical Institute in Miami. After graduation he moved to West Bend and worked for Aerial Blight Control. He was then employed with Kohler Company until his retirement in 2000. Tom was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where he served in the past as an usher and on the financial team. He was a past president of the Sheboygan Falls Jaycees, a member of the Kohler Co. Quarter Century Club, and co-founder of Tents Incorporated. Tom enjoyed camping, hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling with his wife and friends. Tom is survived by his wife, Janet; three daughters, Julie (Brad) Pietenpol , Jodi (Brian)Miller and Karri (Bill) Brandt, all of Sheboygan Falls; four grandchildren, Shawn Miller, Tyler Miller, Morgan Brandt, and Alex Brandt; one sister, Pat Ballou of Menomonee Falls; and one brother-in-law, Tom Zabel of Texas. Tom was further survived by four nieces, Robin, Stacy, Jill, and Bridget, and one nephew, David. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, Jeanne, one brother-in-law, Jim Ballou, a special aunt, Mickey Kohlhagen, a nephew, Scott Ballou, and a sister-in-law, Corrine Zabel. Funeral services to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. A private burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Tom's name.
