Taylor Weele

Taylor Jack VanderWeele, 14, of W4235 Clearview Road, Waldo, loving son of Jay and Cindy (Mullikin) VanderWeele died tragically in a tractor accident on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Town of Lima. Taylor was born on December 17, 1994 in Sheboygan. He recently graduated from the 8th grade at Oostburg Middle School. He missed only one day of school in the three years he was there. He was a member of the wrestling team and this year he won the award for the most improved wrestler which he was proud of. He played clarinet in the 8th grade band. He was a baptized member of the Hingham Reformed Church, attended Sunday School and the youth group there. Taylor was a member of the Hingham Handy Helpers 4-H Club, and the 5 Corners Snowmobile Club. Taylor was a very active young man who loved to serve others in the community. He loved helping out with frying brats at the Waldo Fire Dept. Brat Fry, riding on the fire truck with his dad in the Memorial Day parade, playing 4-H softball, go-carting with his brother, snowmobiling, fixing things, snowplowing with his dad, woodworking, the Red Green Show, showing cattle at the Sheboygan County Fair, Saturday night races with his dad and brother, trains, red tractors, holding babies, mowing lawn, Hank Zipzer books, Craig Morgan's song "International Harvester" and giving hugs to his mom and sister. Taylor will be remembered for his giving spirit and warm and friendly smile. He is also survived by his parents, Jay and Cindy VanderWeele; a sister, Vanessa; a brother Jared, both at home; grandparents, Beatrice VanderWeele of Sheboygan, and Virgil and Marion Mullikin of Waldo; aunts and uncles, Jean and Bill Wilke of Sheboygan, Joan and Dave Broene of Allendale, MI, Jack and Deb VanDerWeele of Sheboygan, Dave and Joan Mullikin, Dean and Maureen Mullikin, Dan and Shelly Mullikin all of Waldo; cousins, Erin Jingst, Laurel and Rob Neary, Angela and Chris Roosien, Mandy and Tim Porterfield, Al Broene, Corey, Hannah, and Chloe VanDerWeele, Courtney, Stacey, Alex and Morgan Mullikin, Melanie, Jake, and Sam Mullikin, and Cody, Jessica and Brett Mullikin; great uncles, and great aunts. He is also survived by a special family friend, Janet Neerhof of Waldo, and many other wonderful neighbors and friends in the community and at church. Taylor was preceded in death by his grandmother, Eleanor Mullikin and grandfather, Howard VanderWeele. A celebration of Taylor's life will be held at the Hingham Reformed Church on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10 am with the Rev. Steven J. Bakker and Pastor Andy Baker officiating. A family service will precede in the choir room at 9:45 am. Burial will follow at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Friends may greet the family at the Hingham Reformed Church on Friday (TODAY) from 3-8 pm, and on Saturday from 8:30 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing a memorial fund for the youth in the community in Taylor's name. The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg (920-564-2771) is serving the VanderWeele family.
