Steven Nyenhuis

Steven B. Nyenhuis, 62, of Sheboygan, died on Saturday morning, June 8, 2013, at St. Luke Medical Center in Milwaukee where he had been a patient since Tuesday. Steven was born in Sheboygan on April 2, 1951, the son of Wilbert and Elsie (Mentink) Nyenhuis. Steven graduated from Oostburg High School in 1969. On May 15, 1971, he married Janet Meier in Oostburg. Steven worked at Old Wisconsin Sausage in Sheboygan for 15 years before his retirement in 2011. Previously he was a bus driver for City Transit in Sheboygan for 15 years. Steven was a charter member at the Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan. He enjoyed bowling, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers, and spending time with his dog, Riley. Steven is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janet; his parents, Wilbert and Elsie Nyenhuis of Oostburg; two sisters, Susan (Al) Gross of Elkhart Lake and Jennifer (Brian) Gabrielse of Madison; one brother, Tom (Sandy) Nyenhuis of Menomonee Falls; his mother-in-law, Mary Meier of Sheboygan Falls; two sisters-in-law, Ann Marie (special friend Bill Kolb) Linn of Sheboygan Falls and Jeanne (Jerry) Davies of Oostburg. He is also survived by nieces, nephew, many cousins and friends. Steven was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Henry Meier, and brother-in-law, Dewey Linn. A funeral to celebrate Steven's life will take place at the Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church at 11 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 with the Rev. Brian DeJong officiating. Burial will take place at the Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 4-8 pm, and on Wednesday, at church from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
