Shirley M. Ramsey, 66 of Tucson, AZ and formerly of Sheboygan Falls died at her home on Saturday, August 1, 2009 following a long and courageous 10 year battle with melanoma. Shirley was born in Sheboygan on May 14, 1943, the daughter of the late Jacob VanTreeck and Angeline (Nysse) VanTreeck. Shirley graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1960, attended the University of Hawaii, and received her BA and MA degrees from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Shirley worked briefly at the Citizens Bank in Sheboygan Falls following high school. She became the Personal Assistant for Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey from 1965-67. After moving to Arizona Shirley worked in education her entire professional life as a teacher and administrator. Shirley was a member of St. Odilia Catholic Church in Tucson where she taught religious education. She was a 4-H leader and member of the AKC-Samoyed Club of Central Arizona where she bred, trained, and showed champion Samoyed dogs. She was also a member of the Samoyed Club of America. She had a special love for dogs and horses, enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, and understanding new cultures. She was an outgoing, friendly and generous person. Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Tanya (Neil) Eigenberger of Plymouth, Alina (Buzz) Wright of Tucson, and Julie Ramsey of San Francisco; two sons, Rob (Lily) Giles of Phoenix, and Bryan Ramsey of Tucson; four grandchildren, Mitchell and Tatum Eigenberger and Tristan and Jackson Giles; her mother, Angeline VanTreeck of Sheboygan Falls; six sisters, Patricia Hoffmann of Hortonville, Nancy (Keith) Auld of Maine, Jane VanTreeck of Sheboygan, Bonnie (Tony) Dunn of Maine, Jackie (Bob) Eigenberger of Sheboygan Falls, Missy (Chuck) DeIrueste of Cedarburg; two brothers, Jerome (Rosie) VanTreeck of Racine and Terry (Kathy) VanTreeck of Sheboygan Falls; and one brother-in-law, Bill Martin of Hortonville. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Jacob VanTreeck; one sister, Mary Martin; and a brother-in-law, Richard Hoffmann. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Friends may greet the family at the Blessed Trinity Parish on Monday from 8:30am until the time of Mass at 10:30 am.
