Scott Jay Wykhuis, 65, of Oostburg passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Scott was born on June 20, 1951 in Sheboygan to Roy and Mary (Stemerdink) Wykhuis. He was a 1969 graduate of Oostburg High School. Scott then served his country in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. Throughout his working career, Scott worked at Tolibia Cheese, Faase Paint and Harrington Beach State Park. Scott was a member of the American Legion-Hartman-Lammers Post 286, where he was active with the 4th of July festivities. Scott was also a member of the Oostburg Boat Club and would go Coho Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. Scott loved fishing on Lake Michigan and going up north to his cabin in Crivitz. He was a great cook and made the best chocolate syrup. Scott is survived by his mom, Mary Wykhuis of Oostburg; two sisters, Kay (Gary) Medley of Pounding Mill, VA and Lynn Wykhuis of Oostburg; one niece, Jenna Medley of Bristol, TN; and one uncle, Burt Wykhuis of Sheboygan Falls. He is further survived by numerous cousins and dear friends. Scott was preceded in death by his dad; paternal grandparents, Jacob and Esther Wykhuis; maternal grandparents, Harvey and Delia Stemerdink; and numerous aunts and uncles. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg from 4-7pm. A private family graveside service and inurnment will be at Oostburg Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Oostburg Ambulance in Scott's memory.
