Sadie Dykstra, 98, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Sadie was born on October 24, 1915, in Racine, daughter of William and Grace (Van Der Zee) Kingsfield. She went to school through the 8th grade and then vocational school until the age of 18. On July 2, 1936, Sadie married Charles Dykstra at First Reformed Church in Racine. Charles passed away on April 2, 1966. She and her husband owned and operated C & S Vending in Racine until his death. After his death she moved to Sheboygan and worked for Kuechle Furniture making draperies, which eventually led to her starting her own drapery business, Dykstra Draperies. Sadie was a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Sheboygan, where she was active in the Women's Guild and Sara Circle. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, making afghans for her family, canning, freezing, and spending time with her family. Sadie will be remembered for always enjoying a good cup of tea each afternoon. Sadie is survived by her two daughters, Grace Scholten of Sheboygan and Renetta Dykstra of Wyoming, MI; six grandchildren, Jay (Johnna) Scholten, Julie (Michael) Bieber, Jeffrey (Kelly) Scholten, Jennifer (Keith) Reyer, Leah Tews, and Naomi (Chad) Wentworth; eleven great-grandchildren, Austin, Sydney, Dayton, Brevin, Sara, Benjamin, Carson, Taylor, Sam, Lily, and Brandon; one sister, Betty Hansen of Racine; and one brother, Harry (Nellie) Kingsfield of Racine. Sadie was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Charles, her parents, son-in-law, Paul Scholten, sisters, Petronella (Jerry) Brixius and Tina (Jake Kramer) (Russ)Kortendick, three brothers, Gerhart (Geraldine), Peter (Elaine), and Samuel (Rena) Kingsfield. Funeral services to celebrate Sadie's life will be held at noon on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Bethany Reformed Church, 1315 Washington Street, Sheboygan with Rev. Philip Rose officiating. Burial will take place at Westlawn Memorial in Racine. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at noon. A memorial fund has been established in Sadie's name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
