Ruth Vinson

February 10, 1923 — November 30, 2015

Ruth Vinson, 92, of Sheboygan, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday night, November 30, 2015, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Ruth was born on February 10, 1923, in Sheboygan, daughter of William and Jennie (Jansen) Kramer. She was a 1940 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School and graduated from Deaconess School of Nursing in Milwaukee. Ruth served in the US Army Nurse Corps during World War II in the South Pacific and Japan. On September 20, 1946, she married A. Edwin Vinson in Sheboygan. Ruth developed the Medical Assistant Program at LTI, and led the program for over 15 years. She was employed as a Registered Nurse with Sunny Ridge Health Care Center and the Sheboygan Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. Ruth was a member of Evangelical Free Church in Sheboygan, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, nursery coordinator, deaconess, and was active in the women's ministries. She served as the first president of the Sheboygan Christian Women's Club. Ruth started each day with prayer and Bible study, and enjoyed baking, cooking, and sewing. Ruth was devoted to her faith in God and her family. Ruth was the dear wife of Edwin for 69 years; devoted mother of two daughters, Sharyn (Al) Whitman of Hanover, IN and Lori (Gary) Lindau of Waterville, OH; and son, Dale (Brenda) Vinson of Sheboygan Falls; cherished grandmother of six grandchildren, Jason (Ondee) Whitman, Alia (Craig) Schellenberg, Jonathan (Orianna) Lindau, Peter Lindau, Joshua (Lauren) Vinson, and Zachery (Christina) Vinson; nine great-grandchildren; and caring sister of, Donald (Peggy) Kramer of Minneapolis, MN. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Vinson; two sisters, Wilma Kramer (infant) and Joyce Kramer; and four brothers, Eugene (Mildred), Melvin (Gertrude and Elva), George (Gertrude), and William Kramer. A service to celebrate Ruth's life will take place at 6 pm on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the Evangelical Free Church, 1710 N. 15th Street, Sheboygan, WI 53081, with Dr. Gary Hylander and Rev. Jon MacDonald officiating. A private burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery with the Rev. David VanDixhorn officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Monday from 4:00-6:00 pm, with the service immediately following at 6:00pm.
