Ruth Veldboom

Ruth Ione Veldboom, 86, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Prairie Crossing. Ione was born on May 13, 1928, in Sheboygan County, daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Dirkse) DeBlaey. On August 20, 1947, she married Ellsworth H. Veldboom at Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg. Ellsworth passed away on July 31, 2010. Ione was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, the Homemakers Club, the Bible league, and the Missionaries' Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, singing in the church choir, and traveling. Ione was employed as a beautician and teacher's aide. Ione is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Lee) Olson of Suwanee, GA; her four sons, Lee (Karen) Veldboom of Waukesha, Terry (Robin) Veldboom of Rifle, CO, Roy Veldboom of Appleton, and Tim Veldboom of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Jenny) Veldboom, Laura (Jason) Passehl, Alicia Veldboom, Elizabeth Veldboom, Rachel Veldboom, Eric Olson, and Sally Olson; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jaiden, Blake, and Boe; one sister, Yvonne Hoogwerf; and one brother, Stan (Sara) DeBlaey. Ione was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ellsworth, her parents, an infant daughter, two sisters, Margaret and Doris, and one brother, Robert. Funeral services to celebrate Ione's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove with Rev. Willie Gesch officiating. Burial will take place at Presbyterian Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Ione's name for Calvary OPC.
