Ruth Veen

Ruth Vander Veen, 71, of W2858 Miley Road, Sheboygan Falls, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. Ruth was born on May 21, 1938 in the Town of Scott, the daughter of Reuben and Olive (Bloemers) Onnink. She was a 1956 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. On June 27, 1959 she married James Vander Veen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Ruth was employed as a bookkeeper with Plymouth Utilities for 15 years until her retirement in 2006. Ruth was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls where she served a Treasurer and on the Finance Committee. She enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, cooking, and traveling. Survivors include her husband, James; three daughters, Faye (Jeff) Flom of Sheboygan Falls, Joy (friend Earl) Vander Veen of Manitowoc, Gail (Jake) Stroeh of Kohler; one son, Gary Vander Veen of Sheboygan Falls; three grandchildren, Kathleen Gabrielse, Therese (Logan) Wade, Jared Flom; three great grandchildren, Dakota, Aaron and Seth Wade; one sister, Judy Bruggink of Menasha; three sisters-in-law, Dolores Krueger of Sheboygan, Helen Winter of Appleton, Betty Schirpke of Marshfield, one brother-in-law, Jim Gross of Manitowoc. Ruth was preceded in death her parents, and an infant daughter, Nancy Vander Veen. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:00 am at Faith United Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Donald Drollinger officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and also at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Ruth's name for Faith United Methodist Church and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.
