Ruth Hering

Ruth E. Hering, 90, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Pine Haven Christian Home. Ruth was born on March 14, 1919 in Plymouth, daughter of the late Karl and Alvina (Bohnsack) Schachtschneider. She was a 1938 graduate of Plymouth High School and in 1941 graduated from Columbia School of Nursing in Milwaukee. On June 22, 1946, she married Edwin A. Hering in Green Lake, WI. Edwin preceded her in death on December 13, 1993. Ruth was employed as a Registered Nurse with Sheboygan County and later with Dr. Horace Hansen until her retirement. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. She loved watercolor painting, for which she received awards, and enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling, and dancing. Survivors include three nieces, Phyllis (Bob) Mueller, Carolyn (Wayne) Allen, and Kathy (Don) Donarski; four nephews, Dr. Thomas (Linda) Licking, Lawrence Licking, Thomas (Sandy) Hering, and Paul (Linda) Hering; two cousins, Beryl Blanke and Muriel (Roy) Sadro. Ruth is also survived by her special friend and caregiver, Maureen (Bernie) Rudebeck and her family. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin, one sister, Ilma Licking, and one brother Edwin Schachts. Funeral service for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Ruth's name. Ruth's family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home, Sharon S.
