Ruth C. Graven, 90, formerly of Oostburg died Saturday night, March 19, 2011 at Virginia Highlands in Germantown where she had resided for the past year. Ruth was born on October 12, 1920, the daughter of the late William and Lucile (Birkett) Meyer. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1938. On May 9, 1941, she married the late Raymond Graven in Oostburg. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1969. Ruth was a member of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing cards. She is survived by her son, James (Mary) Graven of West Bend; three grandsons, Corey (Tammy) Graven of West Bend, Patrick Graven of Jackson, and Troy (Teresa) Graven of Horicon; four great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Simmelink of Peoria, AZ; and one brother, Kenneth Meyer of Cedar Grove. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Russell (Virginia) Meyer; a sister-in-law, Viola Meyer; and one brother-in-law, Harley Simmelink. Funeral services will be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg at 2 pm on Friday, March 25, 2011 with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday 1 pm until the time of the service at 2 pm.
