Ruth Ann Ebbers, 87, of Hingham, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice with her family at her side.
Ruth Ann was born on January 6, 1938, in Hingham, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Melvin and Dena (VerVelde) DeMaster. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1956. On April 11, 1959, she married Donald Ebbers in Oostburg. They shared over 50 years of marriage before Don preceded her in death in 2010. Our family celebrates that Ruth Ann and Don will spend this Easter together with their Heavenly Father. Ruth Ann cherished her role as a spouse, mother, and grandmother, while also working part-time at Larsen Canning Company and as a hairdresser, a path both of her daughters followed.
Ruth Ann was a lifelong member of Hingham Church where she enjoyed leadership roles in the RCA Women’s Triennial Conference and participated in many small groups and couples’ Bible studies. She enjoyed crafts, particularly ceramics, cross stitch, and knitting, creating countless keepsakes for friends and family. Many of those projects made their way to the Sheboygan County Fair where she and Don enjoyed spending time each fall. Above all, Ruth Ann found her greatest joy in being a grandmother. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren—whether cheering them on from the stands, attending their concerts and performances, or simply sitting down to hear about their day. She was a steady and loving presence in their lives, offering encouragement, prayer, and unconditional support. Her deep love for each of them was evident in the way she celebrated their accomplishments, nurtured their faith, and took interest in the smallest details of their lives.
Ruth Ann also loved watching sports with Don, particularly Oostburg basketball, and was a gifted cook who loved to entertain guests. Treasured memories include regular meals around the table with family and friends. In addition to her own walk with Jesus, providing a firm faith foundation for her family was Ruth Ann’s greatest priority.
Ruth Ann is survived by her two daughters, LuAnn (Kevin) Bruggink of Oostburg, and Lynnette (Randy) Johnson of Elkhart Lake; five grandchildren, Paige Bruggink (Christian), Cameron Bruggink, TJ, Grace, and Eli Johnson; two sisters, Charlotte (John) Kappers of Oostburg and Rosemary LeMahieu of Oostburg; one sister-in-law, Nancy DeMaster of Fond du Lac; Ruth Ann is also survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Ebbers; her parents, Melvin and Dena DeMaster; her parents-in-law, Willis and Henrietta Ebbers; brothers-in-law, Dan LeMahieu, Lee DeMaster and Wayne Ebbers; and sister-in-law Mary Ebbers.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at Hingham Church with Pastor Barrett Marcantel and Steven Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 and again on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 9:00 am until the time of service.
