Ruth Dekker

Ruth E. Dekker, 93, formerly of Adell, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 20, 2011 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. Ruth was born on February 2, 1918 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Garret and Dora (Eernisse) Dulmes. She was a graduate of Wisconsin Memorial Academy and Sheboygan Business College. On June 29, 1943 she married Donald B. Dekker in Hingham. Donald preceded her in death on October 10, 1997. Ruth was employed as a bookkeeper with Wierman-Lauret, Inc. for over 20 years until her retirement in 1980. Ruth was a lifelong member of Hingham Reformed Church. She was a 50 year member of the choir and member of the Mission Circle and a Sunday school teacher. Ruth enjoyed singing, music, and traveling. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Jim) Carpenter of Rio Rancho, NM; two sons, David (Deborah Anstett) Dekker of Plover and Bob Dekker of Crivitz; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Campanella, Marie (Nathan) Kocurek, Danielle (Curt Shircel) Dekker, Kathryn Anstett-Dekker, Nathan (Jen) Dekker, Shawn Dekker, Darcie (Mike) Budd; and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Ben Dekker of Waldo. Ruth is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; six sisters, Clara (Harry) Rauwerdink, Mabel (Eugene) Simms, Henrietta (Elmer) Lubbers, Florence (William) TenHaken, Mildred (Dr. Edward) Hougen, Dorothy (Clayton) Voskuil; and five brothers, two infants boys and Abraham (Vera) Dulmes, John (Mary Ellen) Dulmes and LaMonte (Minnie Mae) Dulmes. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11 am at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. Steven J. Bakker officiating. Burial will take place in Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9-11 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Ruth's name for Hingham Reformed Church, Pine Haven Christian Home and Heartland Hospice.
