Rosalie (Rabida) Huntington Born on March 6, 1920, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Rosalie (Roz) Rabida Huntington died at home in her sleep January 29, 2011, in Tucson, Arizona. Roz will be greatly missed by her children Susan (Ramon) Guerrero, Julie Huntington (Wayne Ledwell), William Huntington; sister-in-law Ruth Rigenhagen; grandchildren Noah, Sebastian and Abigail Ledwell; Jennifer Ivie and Dana Huntington; one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews including Barb and John Wenig and Ellen and Paul Benson. Predeceased by parents Harriet and Louis Rabida, husband Howard A Huntington, brother James (Bev) Rabida, sister Dorothy (Neal) Buckmaster, sister-in-law Meta (Robert) Peek, brothers-in-law Sol P Huntington and Richard Rigenhagen and nephew Eric Rigenhagen. Rosalie graduated from West High School in 1938 and married Howard in 1943 at Grace Lutheran Church. Howard was in the Navy and they traveled to Boston area during WWII and then to San Francisco where she worked at Moore Dry Dock Company (where she built and repaired ships) while Howard was at sea. They returned to Wisconsin where Rosalie trained as a furniture upholsterer, then became a mother and full-time homemaker. They moved to Whitefish Bay where she joined Newcomers and Bridge clubs and met her many life-long friends. During the 60s and 70s she golfed and bowled. In the 1960s she worked for OB-GYN doctors Warner, Mullaney and Jaekels as bookkeeper until she retired in the 1980s. She taught us to be active by her example of walking to work and eating healthy foods. Carrot and celery stick snacks were always in the refrigerator. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Roz's welcoming smile warmed hearts and her energetic spirit and positive attitude celebrated life. She never complained. She raised her children and became an avid walker and swimmer in Whitefish Bay. Roz traveled yearly from her Tucson home to be with family in Newfoundland, Canada, stopping to visit friends and family in Wisconsin. She traveled extensively in Mexico, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Thanks to her caregivers Carmen, Sonia, and Undine in Tucson, and Carol and Thelma in Newfoundland. Donations may be made to charity of one's choice. She encouraged us to appreciate the earth. Please share stories about Roz and expressions of sympathy at www.wenigfuneralhome.com. Celebrations of her life will be held at a later date.
