Ronald W. Barthel, 78, of Sheboygan Falls, went home to Jesus on Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Ronald was born on November 26, 1934, in Sheboygan, son of Gustav and Oranda (Glander) Barthel. He was a 1952 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. Ronald served in the US Army in Germany from 1957-1959. On April 16, 1955, he married Phyllis Berndt in Sheboygan. Ronald was employed as a supervisor with AT&T for 37 years until his retirement in 1988. Ronald was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls where he was active in the choir and also as a greeter. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of Chordiler's. Ronald enjoyed golf, computers, singing, bridge clubs, cribbage and sheepshead. He also enjoyed trips to Disney World and Germany. Ronald will always be known as "Mr. Fix-it", and always willing to help others. Ronald is survived by the love of his life for 58 years, Phyllis; two sons, Brian (Carla) Barthel of Salem, WI and Jim (Kelly) Barthel of Hartland; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Alex, Jakob, and Rachel Barthel and Matthew, Elizabeth, and Andrew Barthel. Ronald is also survived by nieces, nephews, many great friends and neighbors. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Carol (Jack) Sprengel and Elda (Frank) Tank. Funeral services to celebrate Ronald's life will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Entombment will take place in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Relatives and friends may call at church from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 5:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Ronald's name for St. Paul Lutheran Church.
