Roger Schimberg

Roger J. Schimberg, 70, of Oostburg, died on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center following a long battle with cancer. Roger was born on November 7, 1945 in Port Washington, the son of John and Eleanor (Schommer) Schimberg. He graduated from Holy Cross Catholic School. Roger served in the US Army from 1966-68. On May 8, 1971 he married Diane M. Ardisana at Lake Church. Roger was a muller operator at the Belgium Foundry for 23 years before his retirement in 2011. Roger attended Revive Baptist Church in Oostburg and was a member of the Friends of Harrington. He was a 4-H leader and coached his children's sporting teams. He was an avid gardener and history buff. He also enjoyed bird watching and fishing. The time he could spend with his grandchildren was cherished by him. Roger will be remembered as generous person, always willing to help out anyone in need. He received great personal pleasure n the opportunity to cook and feed his many family and frineds. Roger is survived by his wife, Diane of Oostburg; two daughters, Stacey Schimberg of Sheboygan and Rhonda (Jason) Scholten of Oostburg; one son, roger Schimberg Jr. of New Orleans; two grandchildren, Gregory and Austin Scholten; three sisters, Carol Ann Schimberg of Belgium, Pat (Scott) Gabrich of Rhinelander and Mary (Larry) Crass of Fredonia; two brothers, Francis (Mary Ann) Schimberg of Fredonia and David (Mary) Schimberg of Belgium; one brother-in-law, Donny Weyker of Beaver Dam. Roger is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Ardisana of Cedar Grove; nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theresa Weyker and Rose Schimberg; and one brother, Michael Schimberg. A memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 6 pm with Pastor Rick TenDolle officiating. Family and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 3pm until the time of the memorial service at 6 pm.
