Robert Walsh

Robert A. "Bob" Walsh, 91, of the Town of Lima died peacefully on Friday morning, November 13, 2015. Bob was born on November 1, 1924, in the Town of Lima, the son of Robert and Matilda (Lorenz) Walsh. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1942. On May 3, 1947, he married Valeria (Larrie) Henry at St Mary Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls. Valeria preceded Bob in death on November 14, 1998, following 51 years of marriage. Bob and Valeria made their home and ran their business, Walsh Farms, in partnership with Ken and Dorothy Walsh in the Town of Lima, near Five Corners, until their retirements in 1997. The Walsh Farm is a Sesquicentennial Farm with continuous family ownership for over 150 years (1848-1998) and was recognized at the Wisconsin State Fair in 1998. Besides managing Walsh Farms, Bob also sold seed for Lemke Seeds and during the winter months he operated Walsh Logging, doing many logging jobs for area landowners. Bob was currently a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, but was a lifelong former member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Five Corners, the Holy Name Society, held various offices, and organized many parish activities including softball tournaments, dances, and polka Masses. Despite the long days that farming required, he found time for his other passions including hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and snowmobiling with his wife, family, and friends. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and passed along his passion for hunting to his sons. Bob shot his last deer at age 81. He had the opportunity to bear hunt past age 70, harvesting three bears. His family referred to him as "One Shot Bob"! He fished the Canadian and Alaskan waters, Lake Michigan, and many Wisconsin inland lakes and loved to boat across Lake Butte de Morts, Poygan, and Winneconne, up the Fox River and back. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife and family in Alaska, Florida, and Wisconsin. He was one of the first individuals from Sheboygan County to purchase a snowmobile (orange Ski-Daddler) and was co-founder of the Five Corners Snowmobile Club where he helped organize many fund raising activities. He also enjoyed participating in pool leagues and was manager/pitcher for the Five Corners Softball Team for many years. Bob loved music and wanted all of his children to have an opportunity to play an instrument. Many musical instruments including piano, accordion, drums, guitar, saxophone and trumpet were mastered in the Walsh household. Bob and Valeria enjoyed dancing and followed Kenny Brandt and the sweet sound of his saxophone for many years. Bob was a Green Bay Packer season ticket holder for many years. Not only did he attend the famous Ice Bowl Game against Dallas, he was also one of the crazy fans who crawled up the goal posts and rode them down! What is remembered most though, by Bob's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was his Irish nature and ability to have fun. The stories that will be told over and over again, and his memories created are the product of a man who truly lived life to the fullest. He is survived by three daughters, Sally (Brian) Korff and Marilyn (Peter) Mersberger, both of Sheboygan Falls, Susan (Mark Thompson) Walsh of Oregon, WI; three sons, Pat (Kathy) Walsh of Fairbanks, AK, Dave (Cheryl) Walsh of Summerville, OR, Brian (Constance) Walsh of Sheboygan Falls; 18 grandchildren, Jesse Korff, Corey (Laura Ubbelohde-Korff) Korff, Kyle (Socheat) Korff, Elizabeth (Jerod) Voskuil, Lisa (Matt) Wisse, Ryan (fiancé Katie Niedfeldt) Walsh, Frederik and Jaquline Sprewell, Evelina Stewart, Heather (Derek) Howard, Phillip, Clinton (Carol) Walsh, Justin (fiancé Megan Kerscher) Walsh, Meredith (special friend Zachary Mutsch) Walsh, Joshua (friend Michelle Murray) Mersberger, Zachary (fiancé Casie Brooks) Mersberger, Sara (Erik Posner) Collins, Katie (Elias) Charles; 20 great grandchildren, Justin and Austin Korff, Kato Korff, Janiessa, Laurina, and Angelina Grady, Lydia and Jonah Voskuil, Isabella and Delaney Wisse, Isla Wilson, Avery and Drew Howard, Kaylee and Teagen Walsh, Owen and Olive Walsh, Emriq Stewart, Isaac Posner, and Sophia Delgardo. He is further survived by a son-in-law, Dave Collins of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews and their families. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Jennifer Collins; three sons, Robert Jr, Rocky, and Steven Walsh; one brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) Walsh; and many other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bob's life will take place at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 1 pm with the Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial will take place at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Lima, at Five Corners. Family and friends will gather at the church on Monday from 11 am until the time of Mass at 1 pm.
