Robert Veldboom

Mr. Robert Dale Veldboom, 72, of Oostburg, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Robert was born on November 6, 1941 in the Town of Holland, son of the late Herbert and Alice (Nonhof) Veldboom. He attended Oostburg Christian Grade School and Oostburg High School. On July 2, 1965 he married Nancy Elizabeth Eernisse at the Gibbsville Reformed Church. They lived in Oostburg all their married lives. Robert was a member of the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church. He was involved with Bible Study Groups and served as a Deacon and an Usher. Robert enjoyed collecting pens, loved comics, bowling and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved fishing and playing games with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their basketball games. He was an encourager and helper to all. Robert was a loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, of 48 years; his two daughters, Lisa Ann (John) Patron of Sheboygan and Tamala Sue (Dale) Stecker of Oostburg; his two sons, Steven Veldboom of Hudson, WI and Scott (Jennifer) Veldboom of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Eric (Erika), Michelle (fiancé Jovanny), Andrew (Caitlyn), Kaitlyn (Marcus), Joshua, Kyle, Jacob, Alicia, Josiah, Gabriel, Nathan, Ryan, Austin, Maia and Eli; his Sister, Marjorie (Ellsworth) Hilbelink; his Sister-in-Law, Faye (Jack) Gray. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Alice Veldboom; his father and mother-in-law, Earl and Lavina Eernisse; one brother-in-Law, Richard Eernisse; 1 granddaughter, Lauren; and one great-grandson, Caleb. A celebration of Robert's life will be on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, 1710 North 15th Street Sheboygan, with Dr. Gary Hylander officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on the family on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4-8pm at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg and again on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 10am until the time of service at 11am at the church. A memorial fund has been established in his name for Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, New Tribes Mission, Oostburg Christian School and Sheboygan County Christian High School.
