Robert "Bob" J. Schindel, Sr., 83, of Oostburg, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 19, 2012, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, with his family by his side. Bob was born on January 14, 1929, in West Bend, to George and Mamie (Hartel) Schindel. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1948. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1951-53. On June 27, 1955 he married Patricia Ann Kessler in Oostburg. Bob owned and operated Bob's Barber Shop in Oostburg from 1959-1978. He then worked as a printer for Gilson/Lawnboy in Plymouth until his retirement. Bob was a member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Bob loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, gardening, hiking, and traveling. Bob was known as Mr. Fix It and he always liked a good flea market. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia; two daughters, Patsy (Douglas) Wilson of Keller, Texas and Sandy (Conrad) Theune of Gibbsville; one son, Robert Schindel, Jr. of Oostburg; five grandchildren, Kimberly and Jeffrey Wilson, Stephanie, Adam, and Samantha Theune; two nieces, Muriel DeSmith of Decorah, IA and Lynda (Bob) Verhulst of Black River; other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his: parents; two sisters, Florence Schindel and Verna Hesslink; two brothers, Alvin and Henry Schindel. Funeral services to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at First Reformed Church in Oostburg with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Town of Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may greet Bob's family from 10:00 am until the time of the service Saturday at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Bob's name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
