Robert G. Neerhof, 69, of 410 Birch Tree Ave, Cedar Grove died on Tuesday morning, May 3, 2011, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa. Robert was born on December 15, 1941, in the Town of Holland, the son of the late Gordon and Ruby (Tenpas) Neerhof. Robert was a 1959 graduate of the Cedar Grove High School where he played on the first varsity football team over 50 years ago. He served in the US Army National Guard from 1960-63. On October 21, 1961, Robert married Jean Navis in Hingham. He was a truck driver for Willman Industries in Cedar Grove for 46 years before his retirement in 2007. Robert was a lifelong member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a deacon. He was a volunteer with the Cedar Grove Fire Dept for over 40 years, and was part of the Cedar Grove Football Chain Gang for over 40 years. He enjoyed football, yard work, bird watching, fishing, shopping and looking for antiques. Robert cherished the time he could spend with his children and grandchildren. Robert became a great grandpa just last month. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Cedar Grove; three daughters, Michelle (Kevin) Lucas, Lori (Randy) Stadler, both of Cedar Grove, Jana (Curt) DeBlaey of Green Bay; one son, Scott (Sue) Neerhof of Sheboygan Falls; 16 grandchildren, Kyle, Jarred, and Courtney Lucas, Megan (Joe) Fleischmann, Ashlee and Taylor Ansay, Rachel and Kendall Stadler, Daria, Kailyn, Alexander, Joshua, Avery, and Paige DeBlaey, Chad and Jeremy Neerhof; one great grandaughter, Aubree Fleischmann; three sisters, Carolyn Neerhof, Jean (A. Richard) Hendrikse, and Audrey (Harold) Hendrikse, all of Oostburg; two sisters-in-law, Karen (Jim) Wilterdink of Hingham and Bonnie (Dale) Christenson of Sheboygan Falls; one brother-in-law, Ronald (Darlene) Navis of Sheboygan; and dear friends, Robert and Jane Runkel of Cedar Grove. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Ruby Neerhof and his parents-in-law, Lester and Bernice Navis. A funeral to celebrate Robert's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial will take place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 4-8 pm, and on Saturday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
