Robert “Bob” A. Johnson of La Crosse, WI passed away on November 22, 2024, in Sheboygan, WI. Bob was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on February 10, 1948. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Bob graduated from St. Mary Central High School (1966) in Bismarck, ND where he excelled at football, basketball, and track. He graduated from North Dakota State University (1970) with a degree in Business Economics with a minor in mathematics.
Bob worked as an assistant National Bank Examiner out of Milwaukee, WI before traveling to Germany to conduct examinations of foreign branches of United States Banks. Back in Milwaukee, Bob met his love Chris, and married on July 12, 1975. In 1980, Bob and family moved to La Crosse, WI where he worked for First Bank. He retired in 2018 after 38 years in the banking industry from Alta Credit Union.
Bob loved gardening (his gardens were spectacular in the spring and summer months), golfing, walking, cooking and numerous other hobbies. Bob loved to entertain and have deep conversations with friends and family. He loved entertaining friends by throwing the best Oktoberfest parade party in all of La Crosse. He was a huge supporter of Wisconsin sports and loved the Packers and Brewers. He and his son even attended Nolan Ryan’s 300th win at the old County Stadium. But above all, he cherished his family and loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Christine; children Jennifer Wolden (Mike Swedahl), Matthew (Betsy) Johnson, and Elizabeth (Davin) Hill, and grandchildren; Samuel, Amy, Pryce, Benton, Tyler, Taylor, and Tyson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delwin and Helen (Baumgartner) Johnson, and brother James Johnson.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
