Robert J. "Bob" DePagter, 87, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2016 at his home in Sheboygan Falls surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on December 10, 1928 to the late Frank and Ethel (Nickish) DePagter in Sheboygan. He was a 1946 graduate of Central High School in Sheboygan and attended UW/Sheboygan and Sheboygan Business College earning an associate degree in Accounting. Bob began his career at Kohler Company in 1950 and worked in positions in both Accounting and Finance before retiring as a Finance Manager in 1991. Bob married his wife Margelo (Kehl) at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls on May 16, 1953. She survives along with his three sons; Dave (Sue), Tom (Bev), Jim (Rachele) all in Sheboygan Falls and a daughter Mary Jo (Don) Stoll of Delafield, Wisconsin. Bob is survived by eleven grandchildren: Niki (Billy) Claerbout, Nate, Jenni, Kyle, Katie, Natalie, Morgan and Carson DePagter and Allie (fiancé Marc Kestly), Donny and Jessy Stoll. He is further survived by two great-grandchildren: Lola and Nora Claerbout, other relatives and friends. Bob was active in numerous community affairs including roles on the Board of Sheboygan United Way, Kohler Foundation, Friendship House in Sheboygan along with volunteer work supporting Junior Achievement, coaching at the Sheboygan YMCA and Sheboygan Falls Middle School. Bob was an active basketball, softball, bowler and dart-ball player. He enjoyed sports as a frequent spectator, be it local events like Road America, Lakeland College, Brewers or numerous high school events. He especially loved following all of his children and grandchildren in a variety of venues. Bob was heavily involved in Boy Scouting, first as a youth and then as a leader. He was a Cub-master for more than 20 years. He later received both the District Award of Merit and the Council's highest volunteer award (Silver Beaver). He also proudly served his country in the Wisconsin National Guard from 1948 to 1955. Bob's greatest love and service was with his church (St. Paul Lutheran of Sheboygan Falls) where past service included Congregation President, Vice-President, Secretary, Elder and Treasurer. He served as a teacher in children's and adult bible classes, sang in the Senior Choir, was involved in church stewardship and served on the South Wisconsin District Stewardship Committee. Until recently, he was on the Finance Team, an Usher and served communion at church, in homes and at nursing homes. Bob and Margelo liked to golf, shop, watch TV and loved reading and traveling. They enjoyed trying out as many restaurants as possible. He also liked to putter around the house with projects, took care of the garden and lawn in the summer and snow blowing and shoveling in the winter months. He truly enjoyed meeting with others and sharing stories on many different subjects. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 6:30 PM. Visitation at the church will be on Friday from 2:30 PM until the time of service. Bob really loved living life, time spent with family and friends. This will be a celebration of life that is to be enjoyed and shared. It will be bright and lively with favorites like colors and plaids, candy and cocktails, silliness and smiles for that is how Bob was with all of us. For online condolences and additional information please visit www.wenigfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the Sharon S. Bob and family are especially grateful to Dr. Chen, Brenda Mauer and the rest of the care givers at the Lombardi Clinic as well as the wonderful staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
