Robert K. Wettstein, of Sheboygan Falls, WI, who celebrated his 89th birthday on Thanksgiving with his special family and friends, passed away on Monday December 9, 2024, at home with his wife by his side. He was born on Thanksgiving, November 28, 1935, In Chilton, WI, to Mary (Dikancic) and Matthew Wettstein. The family moved to Sheboygan in 1941. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1954.
Bob met his wife Delores (Lorrie) Stecker in 1954 and were married July 13, 1957. They were married for 67 years. Bob became a member of St John's UCC in 1955, he was an Usher and a member of the Men's Brotherhood, he was active in the Swiss Steak Dinner they put on each spring, always trying to sell the most tickets for the dinner. He also was involved in many other activities and was always willing to help with whatever.
Their married life got put on hold for a few years while he was drafted into the Army from 1958 to 1960. He was stationed in Fairbanks Alaska where he played Baseball at midnight and was on a ski team which did several ski trips. After he came home from that term, he was called back into the Army Reserve in 1961 for the Berlin crisis. After coming back home he then went back to work for Sheboygan Clean Towel Service which had become ARA Mark Services and Bob became a Route Manager. He continued with them until his retirement in January 1995. Bob & Lorrie spent many winters in California, which on their way to & from always visiting Las Vegas & Laughlin.
While in High School, he played basketball and baseball and continued with baseball after he got out of service. He played with a lot of teams in Sheboygan, but when they moved to Sheboygan Falls, he played Fast Pitch with Dales Bar, and Slow Pitch with Van Engen’s Teams. A big high light was he played against Eddie Feigner's King and His Court (which was a four-man Soft Ball Team). Bob and Larry Schomberg were the only men to get a hit off the King. Bob was a very strong St Louis Cardinal fan from early childhood on. “Bob is on his way Tommy”, fishing the piers of Lake Michigan, the Power Plant and small Lake was also a love of his. He was a Green Bay Packer fan, having gone to the Ice Bowl 12/31/67. (have the ticket stub) he also bowled in many different leagues and tried his hand at golf.
Bob was a member of the Sheboygan A's Baseball Association and a past board member of The Sheboygan County Baseball Association. He was made a member of the Sheboygan Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2007.
Shortly before his death, three Veterans from Sharon S. Richardson came to the house and honored Bob with a ceremony, certificates and a quilt made by the Camo Quilt Project for being a Veteran.
Besides his wife he is survived by his sister-in-law, Caroline Dikancic, nieces and nephews, and many great nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Milton and Eleanor Stecker, one brother, three sisters, two sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, and a great nephew.

A Memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at St. John United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Ave, in Sheboygan on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 3:00pm. Pastor Rev. Judine Duerwaechter presiding.
Relatives and friends may call upon the family at church from 1:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Sheboygan A’s, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, or St. John UCC.
