Richard Zabel

Richard C. Zabel, 75, of Sheboygan, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at his home. Richard was born on May 29, 1935 in Sheboygan, son of Harold and Hazel (Wondron) Zabel. He was a 1953 graduate of Central High School. Richard served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. On July 7, 1962 he married Carolyn Wagner in Sheboygan. Richard was employed in the Engine Department at the Kohler Company for 44 years until his retirement in 2008. Richard was a member of the Sheboygan Outboard Club and the ABC Bowling Club. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boxing while in the Marine Corp. Richard will always be remembered for loving to help other people and sharing the Lord. Richard is survived by his wife, Carolyn, eight sons, David (Anna Mae), Rodney (Tammy), Richard (Tory), Robert (Michelle), Paul (Tracy), Peter (Tanya), Steve (MaryLou), all of Sheboygan; 25 grandchildren, Jason, Alicia, Sarah, Josh, Ashley, Crystal, Matthew, Rachel, Alex, Hunter, Jade, Brandi, Jerry, Deion, Paige, Chloe, Logan, Aaron, Madison, Benjamin, Jarob, Sommer, Arianna, Samantha and Chase; two sisters, Marion (Jerome) Grobman of Sheboygan and Jean Bubb of Sheboygan; one brother, Donald (Sue) Zabel of Rice Lake; special friends, Lois Nyhuis and Stacy Dean and nieces, nephews and many friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Thomas Allen Zabel. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan with the Rev. Gary Hylander of Evangelical Free Church officiating.
