Richard Teunissen

Richard "Dick" L. Teunissen, 68, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, due to complications from Alpha 1 - Antitrypsin Deficiency. Dick was born on November 27, 1946, in Sheboygan, son of Earl and Dorothy (Kaat) Teunissen. He was a 1964 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. On November 2, 1968, he married Susan Sebald in Sheboygan Falls. Dick was self-employed in construction for all of his life. He also worked as an auctioneer. Dick became the leading salesman in the world for the agricultural film he sold. Dick was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church in Sheboygan. His grandchildren were his life. Dick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan; his daughter, Amy (Chad) Kooyer of Grand Rapids, MI; his two sons, Scott (Janelle) Teunissen of Elkhart Lake and Jarrod Teunissen of Sheboygan Falls; 11 grandchildren, Michaela, Owen, Bethany, Grace, Sawyer, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Abigail, Elle, Nicholas, and Jacob; two sisters, Judith (Tom) Golding of Cedarburg and Jane (Jon) Vlietstra of Elkhart Lake; three brothers, Larry (Frances) Teunissen of Sheboygan Falls, Mark Teunissen of Plymouth, and Randal (Donna) Teunissen of Kiel; his mother-in-law, Jean Sebald of Sheboygan Falls; and one sister-in-law, Sara (Boyd) Wilson of Holland, MI. Dick is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Henry and Gertrude Teunissen and Martin and Evelyn Kaat; sister, Diane Teunissen; daughter-in-law, Erin Teunissen; father-in-law, Merlin Sebald; and nephews, Aaron Teunissen and Jason Teunissen. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the Netherlands Reformed Church in Sheboygan with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Monday, February 2, 2015, at 3:00pm until 8:00pm and at church on Tuesday from 9:30am to the time of service at 10:30am. A memorial fund has been established in Dick's name for the Alpha 1 - Antitrypsin Research Foundation and the Netherlands Reformed Church. Dick's family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Pat Marsho, Dr. Philip DeTrana, Dr. Kurt Kooyer, the lung transplant teams from Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and the University of Chicago Medicine, Dr. Mark Brantley, Alpha 1 Research Scientist at the University of Florida, the National Institute of Health, and also for all of the support of our family and friends.
