Richard TenHaken

Richard L. TenHaken, 70, of Oostburg, died on Monday night, August 22, 2016 at Aurora Grafton Medical Center while surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Dick was born on September 30, 1945 in Sheboygan, the son of Ervin and Pearl (Dulmes) TenHaken. He graduated from Oostburg High School in 1963. On July 9, 1965 he married Marilyn Meerdink in Oostburg. Dick was a partner with his brother, Keith in TenHaken Roofing for over 20 years. He operated Dick's Propane Service and worked at Nemschoff Inc. for 21 years prior to his retirement in 2012. Dick was a member of the First Reformed church in Oostburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, woodworking, flowers and gardening. First and foremost though, Dick valued any time that he could spend with his family. Dick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn; one daughter, Nanette (Travis) Gabrielse of Oostburg; two sons, Brad (Amy) TenHaken of Oostburg and Andy (Kristi) TenHaken of Gibbsville; five grandchildren, Parker, Brittany and Brooke Gabrielse, Meghan and Katelin Bridges; one brother, Rev. Larry (Faye) Ten Haken of Hazelhurst; one sister-in-law, Mary (Warren) Theune of Oostburg; one brother-in-law, Wayne (Judy) Meerdink of Oostburg,; nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Lester and Althea Meerdink; and one brother, Keith TenHaken. A private service will be held at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-7 pm at the First Reformed Church- Oostburg Fellowship Hall.
