Richard M. Miller, 71 of Oostburg, and a resident of Prairie Crossing for the past four years, died on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. Richard was born on Tuesday, February 15, 1944 at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan, the second child of Marlin and Milda (Jankow) Miller. On March 19, 1944, Richard was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson by Rev. Julius A. Wagner. His godparents were Melvin Herbst, Raymond Jankow, and Esther Gosse. Rev. Waldemar C. Stoehr celebrated Richard's confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church on May 11, 1958. His confirmation scripture was Romans 5:1. Richard lived on the Miller family homestead, and is the fifth generation of Millers to own this piece of property, which has been in the family for 150 years. Richard graduated from Oostburg High School in 1962 and then honorably served in the US Air Force from 1967-71. He was a self-employed land surveyor up until the time of his retirement in 2002. Richard was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and auto racing. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewers and UW Badgers. Richard is survived by his sister, Marion Behlow of Sheboygan; one niece, Karen (Bruce) Dana of Fort Worth, TX; one nephew, Gary (Margret) Behlow of Chicago, IL; a great niece and a great nephew. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Arlin Behlow. A funeral to celebrate Richard's life will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10 am with the Rev. Shane Cota officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Flader Hill Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday from 3-5 pm, and on Saturday, at church, from 9 am until the time of the service at 10 am.
