Richard DeZoute

Richard A. DeZoute, 75, of Oostburg, passed away on Friday morning, March 13, 2015, at Cedar Grove Gardens. Richard was born on March 11, 1940, in the Town of Wilson, son of Joseph and Ann (DeBruine) DeZoute. He graduated from Oostburg High School. On October 24, 1959, he married Mary Veldboom in Oostburg. Mary passed away on January 29, 2011. Richard was a foreman with Wickes Lumber (formerly known as Kindt and UBC) for 25 years until his retirement in 2002. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, arrowhead collecting, walking, and the outdoors. Richard is survived by his four daughters, Teri (Chris) Nitka of Racine, Tami Martinez of Sheboygan, Patti DeZoute of Oostburg and Toni (fiancé' Jeremy Houle) Eggebeen of Oostburg; one son, Todd (Debbie) DeZoute of Oostburg; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Donna DeBecker of Manitowoc; and two brothers-in-law, Richard (Sharon) Veldboom of Sheboygan and Owen (Marie) Veldboom of Oostburg. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary, his sister, Lavonne (Les) Kruis, and two brothers, Oliver (Eleanor) DeZoute and Lester (Bertha) DeZoute. Funeral services to celebrate Richard's life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with Rev. Gordon Oliver officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm, and on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Richard's name.
