Richard Brill

Richard A. Brill, 84, of Oostburg died Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Richard was born on June 8, 1931 in Oostburg to Abram and Anna (Koskamp) Brill. He was a 1949 graduate of Oostburg High School. He served his country in the US Army, spending one year in Korea . On October 17, 1964 he married Norma Draayers. Richard was a plumber for R.P Honald for over 40 years until his retirement in 1993. Richard was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg, where he served as a trustee. He was a member of the Plumbers Local 401. Richard did various volunteer work, with Christian Reformed Disaster Relief in North Dakota, North Carolina, Texas and Tennessee. He also helped in Hull, IL with flood damage and doing construction work in West Chicago at Wycliff and at the church in Neillsville, WI. Richard enjoyed biking, woodworking, traveling, especially his trips to Holland and Alaska and spending time at the cottage on Lake Michigan. Richard is survived by his wife, Norma of 51 yrs; two daughters, Judy (Tom) Busalacchi of Elkhorn and Jan (Chris) Jerabek of Cedar Grove; one son, Joel (Bridget) Brill of Hingham; six grandchildren, Zach and Hailee Brill, Rachel, Nicole, Laura and Anna Jerabek; one sister, Ruth (Don) Olson of Chippewa Falls; one brother, LeRoy Brill of Oostburg; one sister-in-law, Mildred Hendrikse and one brother-in-law, Don (Ruth) Draayers. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Almond and Ida Draayers and one brother-in-law, Donald Hendrikse. A funeral service to celebrate Richard's life will be on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 4pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg with Rev. Brian Jacobson officiating. Burial will be at Oostburg Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 1pm until the time of service at 4pm. A memorial fund is being established in Richard's name for the Salvation Army.
