Rev. Steele

Rev. Mark W. Steele, 54, of Sheboygan, went home to the Lord on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his home. Mark was born on June 11, 1956 in Chicago, son of Roger W. and Joy M. (Foehner) Steele. He was a 1974 graduate of Forest View High School in Arlington Heights, IL. He received his BA in Music Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL and his Masters of Religious Education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. On May 3, 1980, he married Jean Mager in Mt. Prospect, IL. Mark was ordained as a minister with the Evangelical Free Church of America in 1985. Mark served as Pastor of Adult Ministries and Executive Pastor at the Evangelical Free Church of Sheboygan for the past nine years, a YMCA board member and former board member of Timber-lee Christian Center in East Troy. Mark's calling was to make disciple of Jesus Christ. He was passionate about developing and equipping leaders for ministry. He enjoyed flying, music, motorcycle riding, computers and technology, reading, travel and his family. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandson, Luke. Mark is survived by his wife Jeanie; his daughter, Charissa (David) Toeller of Port Washington; his son, Nicholas (Mary) Steele of Sheboygan; his grandson, Luke Toeller; his parents, Roger and Joy Steele of Freeport, IL; a sister, Debbie (Glenn) Lapinski of Freeport, IL; and his parents-in-law, Marvin and Lois Mager of Lockwood, MO. A funeral service to celebrate Mark's life will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 7:00 pm at the Evangelical Free Church in Sheboygan with Dr. Gary Hylander officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 until the time of the service at 7:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Mark's name for the Evangelical Free Church of Sheboygan.
