Raymond Visser

Raymond M. Visser, 94, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Ray was born on October 21, 1918, in Sheboygan Falls, son of Robert C. and Anna (Henning) Visser. He graduated as class president in 1936 from Sheboygan Falls High School. Ray served with the 348th Station Hospital in the US Army from 1942-1946. On October 10, 1953, he married Wanda Victoria Buivid in Port Washington. Wanda passed away on October 22, 1976. Ray was employed with Kohler Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1984. Ray was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, where he was a member of the parish council and the choir. He was also a member of American Legion Post #149, the Kohler Quarter Century Club, and the Sheboygan Falls Senior Center. Ray enjoyed gardening, reading, Army reunions, walking, and having lunch with the Beach Bunch. Ray is survived by his two daughters, Wanda Marie Visser of Sheboygan Falls and Victoria Visser of Madison; one brother, Arthur Visser of Wauwatosa; and two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Visser of Sheboygan Falls, and JoAnn Buivid of Port Washington. Ray is also survived by nieces, nephews, and his pen pal for more than 65 years, Dorothy Vandiford of Winnsboro, SC. Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Wanda, his sister, Bernice (Rueben) Lemke, two brothers, Robert Visser and Harold Visser. A private graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in Ray's name for Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
