Raymond A. Koopman, 73, formerly of Oostburg died on Wednesday January 30, 2013 at Meadowview Manor. Raymond was born on April 24, 1939 in Pewaukee, the son of the late Bernard and Madie (Kotz) Koopman. He attended North Division High School in Milwaukee. On May 18, 1958 he married Carol Hackbarth in Milwaukee. Carol preceded him in death on May 1, 1996. Ray was an assembler at American Motors in Milwaukee for 18 years before his retirement in 1977. Ray was a member of Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, dogs, playing cards and watching the Green Bay Packers. Ray is survived by one daughter, Cathy (Cory) Wiedmeyer of Kewaskum; seven sons, Raymond Jr. (Beth) of Campbellsport, Glenn of Oostburg; Kenneth (Sue) of Cedar Grove, Randall (Nancy) of Oostburg, Jeffrey (Jeaniene) of Cedar Grove, Steven (Betty) of Oostburg, and Keith (Shelly) Koopman of Cedar Grove; twelve grandchildren, and one great grandaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and one sister, Dorothy (Al) Schaefer. A funeral to celebrate Ray's life will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11 am at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. John Tinsley officiating. Burial will take place at the Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday from 9-11 am.
