Ralph M. Dulmes, 84, of 532 Wisconsin Avenue, Oostburg went home to his Lord on Saturday afternoon, March 5, 2011. Ralph was born on October 26, 1926 in the Town of Lima, the son of the late Raymond and Alice (Lemmenes) Dulmes. He attended Cedar Grove High School. On August 13, 1947, Ralph married Dorothy Hoftiezer at the home of the bride's parents in the Town of Lima. Ralph was an insurance agent for the New York Life Ins. Co. for over 31 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church where he served as deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, and was part of the Men's Brotherhood and the choir. He also served on the Oostburg School Board, and was a member of the Oostburg Kiwanis and Oostburg Billiard League. Ralph had a lifelong love of airplanes; and not only flew them, but designed and built several Ultralights. He also had a fond love of music. He was a pianist and learned to play the violin in his 70's. As a vocalist for many weddings and funerals, he also recorded his own album. He enjoyed woodworking and built two of the homes he lived in. He belonged to several golf leagues, enjoyed going to the family cottage, and traveling, including to Europe several times. Ralph is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Oostburg; three daughters, Nancy (Angus) Schocko of Oostburg, Barb (Larry) LeMahieu of Sheboygan, and Laurie Turner of Mebane, NC; two sons, Dale (Betty) Dulmes and Mark (Joy) Dulmes, both of Oostburg; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Ann (Mark) Eggebeen of Oostburg; numerous brothers-in-law,sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Viola (Don) Chvarak; and two young brothers, Marvin and Wesley Dulmes. A funeral to celebrate Ralph's life will be held at the Gibbsville Reformed Church at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 with the Rev. John Ornee officiating. A family service will precede in the choir room at 10:15 am. Burial will take place at the Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday (TODAY) from 3-8 pm, and on Tuesday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
