Ralph DeMaster

Ralph J. DeMaster, 89, of Oostburg went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, April 13, 2013 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Ralph was born on June 24, 1923 in the Town of Holland, the son of John and Nellie (Voskuil) DeMaster. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School. On November 14, 1947 he married Doris Bruggink in Hingham. Ralph was a lifelong dairy farmer in the Town of Holland. Ralph was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, and was active in various evangelism projects including the Institute for Creation Research. He was also a volunteer for Prison Fellowship, Salvation Army, and a member of the Sheboygan County Farm Bureau and Campus Life Ministry. He enjoyed singing, farming, bird watching, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Ralph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris; four daughters, Kay (Don) Edwards of Mequon, Beth (Gary Levinson) Richardson of Texas; Lynne (Michael) Zimmermann of Oostburg, and Jean (Gary) Debbink of Burlington; two sons, Dennis (Margaret) DeMaster of Fox Lake and Mark (Brigitte) DeMaster of Cedar Grove; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, John Ralph; two sisters, Margaret (Joseph) Manulik and Ruth (George) VanDriest; three brothers, Earl (Antoinette), Clarence (Tannie and Grace), and Ellsworth DeMaster. A funeral to celebrate Ralph's life will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Ivan DeMaster officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday from 4-8 pm, and on Tuesday, at church, from Noon until the time of the service at 1 pm.
