Phyllis Joosse

Phyllis Joosse, 86, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Friday morning, January 8, 2016, at Pine Haven Covenant Home in Sheboygan Falls where she had resided for the past three years. Phyllis was born on January 18, 1929 in Cedar Grove, the daughter of Harry and Gladys (Meylink) Meerdink. She graduated from Wisconsin Memorial Academy in Cedar Grove in 1947 and then attended the Sheboygan Business College for one year. On May 23, 1952, she married John Joosse Jr. in Cedar Grove. John passed away on May 13, 2008. Phyllis was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where she was active in many organizations and projects including teaching Sunday School, Ladies of Faith, and singing in the choir. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to 49 of the states throughout our country, bird watching, sewing and tatting, reading, playing piano and organ, card games and Scrabble. Phyllis is survived by her two daughters, Deborah (Gary) Meeusen of Cedar Grove and Patti Meerdink of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Sarah (Christopher) Konzak of Cedar Grove, Anne (Christopher) Hajigeorgiou of Cumming, GA, Michael (Heather) Meeusen of Elkhart Lake, and Allison Meerdink of Muncie, IN; seven great-grandchildren, Faith, Grace and Carissa Konzak, Cole and Collin Hajigeorgiou , Jerel and Aubrey Meeusen; one brother, Glenn (Gail) Meerdink of Cedar Grove; two sisters-in-law, LaVerne Joosse of Madison and JoAnn (Carl) TenPas of Cedar Grove; and two brothers-in-law, Warren (Phyllis) Heinen of Cedar Grove and Paul Nyhof of Sheboygan Falls. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John; her parents; and one sister, Carolyn Heinen. Funeral services to celebrate Phyllis' life will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with Rev. Ronald Sanford officiating. Burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 11:30 am until the time of the service at 1:30 pm.
