Peternella Huibregtse

Peternella Huibregtse, 89, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016. Peternella was born on January 4, 1927 in Sheboygan Falls to Peter and Elizabeth (Van Bergeyk) Van Wyk. She attended Starlight school then worked at the Brickner Woolen Mill. On December 17, 1947 she married Donald Huibregtse at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls. Donald and Peternella farmed and raised their family on an 80 acre dairy farm in rural Sheboygan Falls. Donald preceded her in death on July 23, 1998. Peternella was an active member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she was an adult Sunday school teacher, a member of the Rebekah Circle, volunteered in the church library, in the kitchen, and on various committees. She was a St. Nicholas Hospice volunteer for 10 years and was a member of the Town of Lima Homemakers. Peternella was an avid reader, and stayed current on world news and politics, and loved studying her Bible. She had a strong work ethic and valued education, earning her GED at the age of 65. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, cooking and baking, visiting shut-ins and in her later years traveling, including bus trips and a visit to Holland. Peternella was most happy when surrounded by her family and friends and attending her grandchildren's activities. Peternella is survived by her children; daughter-in-law, Julie Huibregtse, son-in-law, Roger (Barb) Nysse, son, Wes (Cyndi) Huibregtse, daughter, Mary (Mike) Rammer, son, Robert (Debby) Huibregtse, daughter, Barb Huibregtse and son, Dan (Colleen) Huibregtse. Grandchildren, Dawn (Ted) Feenstra, Rachel Huibregtse, Sarah (Rev. Chris) Jacobsen; Anne (Randy) Sellen, Aaron (Megan) Nysse, Lisa (Luke) Timm; Dr. Laura (Josh DePagter) Rammer, Paul (Melissa) Rammer; Pietje (Scot) Markus, David Huibregtse; Amy (Mike) Lewis, Abby (Dan) Bauer, Ashley (Scott) Andre, Adam Huibregtse, Alex Huibregtse; Megan Huibregtse, Grace Huibregtse and Riley Huibregtse; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Minnie (Melvin) Veldman; one brother, John VanWyk; four sisters-in-law, Catherine, Evelyn, Marion Van Wyk and Violet Huibregtse. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Peternella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Donald; one son, James "Jim" Huibregtse; one daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Nysse; chosen family member, Elverna Krueger; brothers, Andrew, Adrian, Bill and Kunert VanWyk; one sister, Claudia (Russell) Bresser; one sister-in-law, Vonnie VanWyk as well as Laverne (Howard) Velier and Norman Huibregtse. A funeral service to celebrate Peternella's life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:30 am at First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Chris Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the church from 9am until the time of service at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for St. Nicholas Hospice, The Sheboygan Falls Food Pantry and Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Peternella's memory. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Advantage, St. Nicholas Hospice and the staff of Pine Haven for all of their care and compassion that they gave to Peternella.
