Peter Kaat

Peter Kaat, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014, at the home of his daughter. Peter was the fifteenth of seventeen children born to Leonard Sr. and Suzanna (Bliek) Kaat. He was born on December 26, 1918, in Green Valley Township in Marathon County, Wisconsin. He attended Lakeview School in the Town of Wilson. On September 26, 1942, he married Delia A. Dana in Cedar Grove. Delia passed away on December 24, 2009. Peter was a green gardener most of his life with his father and nephew, LeRoy Baumann, growing vegetables for Piggly Wiggy. Prior to that he hauled coal for the Sheboygan Coal Co. and worked as a landscaper for Dave Ertel Landscaping. Peter was a member of the Netherland Reformed Congregation, where he was a consistory member for 24 years, a deacon, and an elder. He enjoyed his truck farming, and loved spending time with his family. Peter is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Larry) Wiltzius of Sheboygan Falls; his two sons, Thomas (Ann) Kaat of the Town of Lyndon and Phillip (Norrine) Kaat of the Town of Greenbush; six grandchildren, Beth (Joe) Clark, Kris (Shawn) Hannon; Heather Kaat, Carmen Hendrickson, Justin (Kaitlyn) Kaat, and Ryan (Heather) Kaat; four step-grandchildren, Shannon Mora, Dion Hense, Larry Jr. and Christina Wiltzius; nine great-grandchildren, Nick, Lijah, Sam, Olivia, Evan, Shane, Logan, Daniella, and Mandy; one sister-in-law, Vivian Kaat; and one brother-in-law, Carl Dana. Peter is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Peter was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Delia, one great-grandchild, 16 brothers and sisters, 10 brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law. A funeral service for Peter will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Sheboygan with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and also at the church on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm.
