Peter Boer Jr.

Peter A. DenBoer Jr. 67, of W11155 Lane 2, Dunbar, and formerly of Oostburg died early Saturday morning, May 1, 2010 at the Dickinson Co. Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Peter was born on April 11, 1943, the son of the late Peter A. Sr. and Delia "Nok" (Dirkse) DenBoer. He attended Oostburg High School. Peter married Ann Marie Meier in 1963 in Sheboygan Falls. He worked at the Kohler Co. for over 42 years before his retirement in 2005. Peter was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club and the Dunbar Sportman's Club. Pete found his greatest spiritual blessing in nature. Pete loved his home up north that he built, hunting, trap shooting, fishing, and watching sports. Turkey calling and hunting were his latest adventures. He was a handyman always willing to help others with their projects. Peter is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Gary) Collins of Waldo; a son, Ronald (Wendy) DenBoer of Oostburg; five grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Collins, Tanya, Kari, and Bradley DenBoer; four sisters, Nancy Salm of Cleveland, Mary (Ralph) Bender of Oostburg, Johanna (Philip) Dulmes of Oostburg, Carol (Gary) Feldman of Sheboygan Falls; three brothers, John (Judy) DenBoer of Cedar Grove, James (Jane) DenBoer of Sheboygan, Alan (Deb) DenBoer of Oostburg; and a sister-in-law, Diane DenBoer of Oostburg. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Edith DenBoer; a brother, Gerald DenBoer; a brother-in-law, Francis Salm; a niece, Wendy Hilbelink and a nephew, Matthew DenBoer. Pete expressed his heartfelt appreciation to his northern family and friends, Roz and Eric Anderson, John and Joyce Brown, Shayne Adell, Gary Powell for their support and help throughout his illness. He especially loves and thanks his nephew and niece Brian and Daniela DenBoer for their unceasing devotion and love. His journey was made easier because of his northern friends and family. Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. A family service will precede in the fellowship hall at 1:15 pm. Burial will follow at Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday from 4-8 pm, and on Thursday, at church, from noon until the time of service at 1:30 pm.
